Food Choices?

The other morning I walked into the break room at my office to find this food on the table. A couple of my co-workers had brought in their "extra food" from home. So my choice was 1/2 pan of brownies or freshly picked tomatoes. Since I am doing my best to keep the weight off, you will be glad to know I had two tomatoes and only a single bite of the brownie. But why must people bring in such tempting desserts? This weight thing is not easy.

I sincerely believe, Dad, that as my generation grows up, weight loss will grow to be taken more and more seriously until there are as many resources for helping people lose weight as there are right now for helping alcoholics become sober. My generation is the first that is truly hooked on fast food and junk food, as well as one of the first predicted to have a shorter life expectancy than those that came before us, due solely to weight gain. Obesity in America is pegged as one of the largest factors driving up health care costs. Frankly, if people don't become more aware about working as a community to lose weight, then more drastic steps will have to be taken as a society.
