Will spring ever come???

Here is a picture of our cul de sac. It is March 27th, and we still have a small pile of snow (and yes it is mainly dirt from the snowplows). This past weekend it has been between 30 and 35 degrees everyday as compared to the usual 50 degrees for the end of March. Will spring ever come?

Flying on the Private Jet

While Keith was sick in Houston, Brenda and I were flying on a private jet out of Chicago for a weekend birthday party in Fort Lauderdale. It was the 5oth birthday party for one of my best clients and her husband decided to rent a private jet for a surprise trip to Fort Lauderdale to see her family and friends. Fortunately for Brenda and I, the jet had two extra sets.

In addition to no security checks and no lines, one of the best parts of the trip was sitting right next to the pilots and experiencing the flight from their vantage point. I see why very wealthy people buy their own private jets!

P.S. Did I mention that Fort Lauderdale was warm and full of color

Laurel's Birthday

For Laurel's 22nd birthday on March 6th, we pulled out all the old birthday party hats. In looking at them, we realized that most of the hats are 20 - 25 years old. Brenda always put together incredible birthday parties for the kids and the hats brought back great memories.

Forensics Season Update

Phil has been very busy with Forensics so far this year. We has been to four tournaments and has taken first each time. In fact at the tournament in Holland yesterday, he was only one point from a perfect score. Way to go Philip. A couple more competitions coming up and then the state finals are on May 5th and 6th.

Choices

Phil got some great news this week. He has been admitted to two more great schools: The University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis. Previously, he was accepted at The University of Michigan and Kalamazoo College. He is still waiting to hear from Rice University and to hear about a full ride scholarship to Kalamazoo College. So many great choices- we will keep you posted.

Dinner with Bryan and Jessie

Before our trip to Florida, Brenda and I stopped in Chicago to have dinner with Bryan and Jessie. We told Jessie to find a restaurant that was healthy and not too expensive. She made reservations at The MarketPlace at the Doubletree Hotel. The place was awesome and had some wonderful food. Bryan had an incredible burger stuffed with BBQ short ribs and Jessie and I had fish. Overall a great meal and we would go back again. Check out the cool pot the brussel sprouts were served in.

Flu Shots

Now I am not a scientist or a clinical researcher, but I am sure glad I passed on a flu shot this year.

Bryan got a flu shot - he got the flu twice

Keith got a flu shot - he got the flu

Cliff had no flu shot - no flu

Brenda had no flu shot - no flu

I think this is clear evidence... if you see a needle - run!

Keith and Lisa - watch what you wish for...

When Keith and Lisa moved to Texas, they wondered if anyone would come visit. In fact, Keith has tried to make me feel guilty for not visiting more often. Well watch what you wish for because Keith and Lisa are now hosting lots of company.

Brenda visited for a week at the end of January and on Saturday, Laurel and Tommy flew down for a week. Next, Bryan and Jessie will be in Houston this weekend. And as they all leave, Lisa's twin sister Sara is coming for ten days. Everyone wants to see Keith and Lisa and also enjoy the sunshine and 75 degrees. They live in a beautiful spot. Now I just need to get down for a visit...may have to wait until this fall :(
