Yesterday we held the 3rd Annual Mulder/Platte Lake Olympics. I came up with this idea as a way to showcase the enormous athletic talent in the Mulder family. This year we had seven countries participate:
Country Athletes:
Portage Cliff and Brenda
College Philip and Hannah (Hannah is Phil's girlfriend)
Toledo (Elder) Kevin and Bea
Toledo (Youth) Liza and Gabi
Traverse City Craig and Kathi
Travanzoo Laurel and Hannah
Providence Tara and Mike (Mike is Tara's boyfriend)
As you saw in my earlier posting, we featured three events: Bag Toss, Bocce and a Canoe Race. The competition was spirited and the athletes gave it their all. In the end, Hannah and Laurel walked away with the victory by a commanding margin. They won Bag Toss, Bocce and came in third in the Canoe Race for a total score of five. Phil and Hannah captured the silver with a score of ten. They were followed by Traverse City and Providence (tie), Toledo(Elder), Portage and Toledo (Youth).
Laurel and Hannah played out of this world. Laurel put over 1/2 of her throws into the hole during bean bag toss (the day before in practice she did not get one in). The waves were high and the winds strong during the canoe race, but this did not slow them down. Unbelievable!!
It was a great Olympiad.
