Philip traveled to U of M - Flint on Saturday to compete in the Class A State Forensics tournament. He competed against the top eighteen kids in the state in the category of extemporaneous speaking. In extemporaneous speaking, you are given a random, current events question and have only 30 mintues to prepare a seven minute speech.
Philip finished third in the competition and snared another really cool trophy. The two kids that beat him are both seniors. Philip is pictured with Jim Menchinger, one of his coaches. Mr. Menchinger also coached Bryan in Forensics. Philip did beat Bryan who finished #5 in the state in 2001. Maybe next year Philip can finish #1, which is what Jessie received in the Storytelling category her senior year. Way to go Philip.

Congratulations to you Phil. Beating your big brother - hmm -that may be treading on dangerous territory.
Seriously though, I am sure, knowing Bryan, that he is very pleased to have his kid brother doing so well.
As are we all ! Gram
