Laurel is staying in Ann Arbor this summer to take a class and work on research at Mott's Children's Hospital. Laurel first started working at the hospital last fall as part of an Undergraduate Research Project. During the school year she was not paid since the research work was for class credit. She is getting paid this summer and the research may continue into the next school year as well. This spring Laurel presented her work and the attached picture is Laurel and her research poster. Laurel is studying the effects of anesthesia on obese children. She is getting a lot of exposure with patients in a hospital setting. The work also allows her to interact with nurses, residents, and doctors. It will look very positive on her medical school applications. Brenda and I are very impressed and proud.
By the way, Laurel had her best UofM grades this past semester while continuing to take some very difficult classes. Way to go Laurel.
