Like many cities, Portage is cutting back on municipal services and the surreys at Celery Flats are being discontinued. Getting the surrey rentals set up was one of my projects as Assistant City Manager in 1989. The Mulders have spent many a Sunday afternoon renting the surreys for a 1/2 hour of peddling the trails of Celery Flats. Maybe Mom and I will just have to buy a surrey for ourselves. It is green and would be a highlight of every trip home for our kids.
