After Labor Day, Philip will start his senior year at Portage Northern. For Brenda and I, this is our last year with the Portage Public Schools (PPS) after 21 straight years of having a kid in the Portage school system. It will be a bittersweet experience. Our kids have received a great education from PPS and have been well prepared for college. But it also marks a phase of our lives that is ending (does that mean more time for traveling?).
One interesting fact is the number of parent/teacher conferences we have attended. Brenda and I always make our kid's conferences - only missing one during Bryan's senior spring. Our total over the last 21 years is 389 individual teacher conference. Luckily, the news was always outstanding - maybe that is why we kept going back!
