Part of the purpose of our most recent Italy trip (other than spending time together and drinking great wine) was for Brenda and I to work on our Italian. Brenda understands almost everything and is able to carry on a conversation with anyone. While it was not easy to spend eleven days constantly thinking in another language, Brenda did great. How did I do? Well, I improved. This was my fifth trip to Italy in the last ten years. In 2000, I did not understand anything. This trip I probably understood about 40% of the conversations and could say about 20% of the things I wanted to say. Luckily, I had Brenda, Eleonora, Martino and Laura to cover the other 80%. Here is a great video clip of Sergio telling us a story about Noni and Popi. Of course Sergio makes it a little more challenging by using a mix of Italian and Friulan (Noni's regional dialect).
