Laurel will be staying in Grand Rapids
At MSU's Medical School, they split the 200 member class between the Grand Rapids and East Lansing campuses. After the first two years of academic classes, the students are then assigned to a number of communities for their two years of rotations (Flint, Traverse City, Marquette, East Lansing, Midland and Grand Rapids). Laurel really wanted to stay in GR for years three and four and she found out this week that she will remain in Grand Rapids. We are all happy as she really enjoys living in GR and the hospital facilities are outstanding. Now she will just have to figure out what area of medicine to practice. Along those lines, she spent this weekend at a "Women in Surgery" conference in Baltimore to explore this possibility. Exciting times!
