This past weekend, Brenda, Popi and I flew to Denver for Kristin's wedding (see separate post). We came in on Thursday afternoon and had Thursday night and Friday to see Denver. Linda and Mike met us at the airport. This was the first time Brenda and I had been to Denver outside of ski season.
Thursday night we went to a resturant in Boulder that specializes in the food and wine of Friuli (Noni's region in Italy). The owners travel to the Collio region every year to pick up new recipes and to test wines. The wine list was amazing the the food was great. What a treat.
The next day we got up early and took Popi to the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave Site. We learned everything about Buffalo Bill and also played cowboy and cowgirl dress up (see photos). Next it was the Coors Brewery tour. This self guided tour was very well done and even included 3 glasses of their beer (one for me as I was the driver).
After dropping Popi off, we headed for Estes Park in the Rocky Mountain National Park. This was our real mountain adventure. The views were beathtaking and the elk were everywhere. Nancy, Lou, Jason, Mark and Andrea joined us. Finally we drove into downtown Denver to have dinner with Mike (who was working all day). Downtown was hopping and we finally returned to the hotel at 11:00 pm.
