One of the coolest perks I get in working for Raymond James is our Summer Development Conference(SDC). SDC is my annual training and educational workshops held in Florida. Every three years, the SDC is held at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. Our CEO, Tom James, has always invited families to SDC and strongly believes that it should be a fun event. This year, everyone came except for Bryan who was too busy studying for the Illinois Bar Exam on July 28th. We went a couple of days early to fit in Universal Studios as well. At Universal we stayed at the Portofino Hotel and thus received a "fast pass" to all the Universal rides. We had a wonderful time as evidenced by the many photos in my album. Click on "My Photos" on the right hand side of my blog and open the Disney Universal 2009 folder.

Disney and Universal just keep on changing! Since my trip with Uncle Mike and Aunt Linda last year, Disney has already started to update Space Mountain and has added the new ride Toy Story Mania. Additionally, the old Universal park was nearly unrecognizable with new rides, and there was an awesome looking roller coaster that was under development at Islands of Adventure, the other park in Universal. Also, Universal has obtained the rights to Harry Potter, and are in the process of creating a Harry Potter themed land in Islands of Adventure, which might even be done the next time we visit Universal.
The best thing about the Disney/Universal trip is that it was a great family bonding experience! I never realized how long it had been since I'd actually spent a long period with anyone in my immediate family besides mom and dad. It was nice spending long times with my siblings, even it was forced time, because it really felt like the days before everyone went off to college. I really hope Bryan can make our next big family trip!
Is that Keith in a 6-year-old white shirt?
